EDDM stands for Every Door Direct Mail and is a program offered exclusively through the US Postal system. This program allows you to send a mail piece to all the houses within specific neighborhoods using a carrier route map. The carrier map is a simple tool that you can access here that allows you to pick and choose which routes you would like to mail to. You can even find demographics along with total counts. The postage for mailing using the EDDM program is approximately $.17 each. Pair this with a 6×11 postcard at approx $.10 each and you have an inexpensive mailing that can really drive some new prospects and hopefully customers to your business.
How can I make sure EDDM gets the best results possible?
You need to work with a media company capable of planning out your entire mailing. This includes the design along with the function. You might be wondering what we mean by function, but let us explain. If the person at the house gets your postcard you’ll need to make sure there is a reason for them to contact you. This is referred to as a “call to action”. Most of the time this is a discount, limited time offered product or some other deal that will make them stop and react. Next you’ll want to make sure you can track your results. This can be done by using a phone number that can be tracked, or by using a specific webpage that you direct them to go to sign up.
